Doha: The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology’s Digital Incubation Center (DIC) will organise a training workshop on angel investment on April 22 as part of efforts to build the angel investment ecosystem in Qatar’s ICT sector.
Two angel investment experts from the Silicon Valley of the USA will provide advice and share their thoughts and insights at the workshop, which is expected to witness the emergence of the first Qatari angel investment network, specialised in technological startups investment.
Workshop agenda features lectures and presentations from angel investment experts. Audience includes a group of Qatari businesspeople and investors, as well as startup entrepreneurs incubated at the DIC. Lectures will revolve around angel investment concept, angel capital, pre-money valuation, best practices, due diligence processes and how all that reflects on business startups.
Angel investing generally aims to build up a bridge between business community and promising startup entrepreneurs to back them, fund their businesses and help them develop their projects with the aim of building a robust entrepreneurship ecosystem in Qatar.
Angel investing is still a novelty in Qatar and the Arab world and a lot of work is still needed to promote the concept among Qatari investors and business community. Three to four startup companies run by promising Qatari youth will pitch their investment opportunities to the audience at the end of the workshop.
