Doha: Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) yesterday said that its Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) teams implemented 69 interventions from April 2013 to March 2014 for workers of Qatar Fertiliser Company (Qafco). Of the total 69 interventions, 29 required urgent action to rescue victims of accidents and 40 were normal health problems that were referred to specialised clinics.
QRC, in October 2012, had signed agreement with Qafco to provide medical support and coverage for its workers in the form of resident ambulance and EMT services at all the six sites in Mesaieed industrial city.
“Even though covering a company as huge as Qafco, with its six plants that produce millions of tons of fertilizers every year, is a tremendous challenge that calls for constant alertness and proficiency, everything is going very smoothly, and the medical teams are doing their job perfectly, with no inconveniences at all,” said Saleh bin Ali Al Mohannadi, Secretary General, QRC.
QRC’s EMT teams showed complete preparedness and immediate response when receiving emergency calls. The Peninsula
