Doha: Chairman of Al Rayyan's board Sheikh Saud bin Khalid Al-Thani announced Friday his resignation from his post in the club in the upcoming general assembly, stressing that the management did the most it could for the club.
He said in a statement on the club's website after the final that Al Rayyan played a great game despite the loss. Sheikh Saud also praised Al Sadd for their performance, saying they deserved the title despite the fact that Al Rayyan were unlucky throughout the match.
He also thanked the fans for their support throughout the season, adding that the club let them down. His Excellency praised the fans for filling the stadium in the final and wished the team more success in the future. His Excellency then congratulated Al Sadd for the title.
