Emir appoints QCB directors

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday issued Emiri decision No. 69 of 2013, forming the board of directors of Qatar Central Bank (QCB).

The Emiri decision has appointed the Governor of QCB Sheikh Abdullah bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Thani as chairman, the Deputy Governor of QCB Sheikh Fahd bin Faisal bin Thani Al Thani as deputy chairman, Dr Ibrahim Ibrahim as a member, Khalaf Ahmed Al Mannai, the representative of the Ministry of Economy and Finance as a member, Sultan Rashid Al Khater, the representative of the Ministry of Business and Trade as a member, Dr Saleh Mohammed Al Nabit as a member, and Nasser Ahmed Al Shaibi as a member.

Strong winds from next week

 

Doha: The weather bureau has forecast strong winds starting next week, after a slight decrease in winds over the weekend. The temperature is expected to remain at around 40 degree Celsius in the coming week, with strong winds affecting the entire country from next Sunday according to the Metrology Department.

Winds will be blow at speeds between 20 to 30 knots, which will also decrease visibility due to dust. The new wave is expected to last for a few days, the Department added.

Qatar backs Arab Human Rights Court

Cairo: The Legal Affairs Department Director of the Foreign Ministry Dr Ahmad Hassan Al Hamadi has affirmed Qatar’s support for the draft statute of the Arab Court for Human Rights which was approved by the Arab summit that was held in Doha last March.

Dr Al Hamadi yesterday pointed out that the establishment of this court constitutes an important requirement in view of the changes taking place in the region and the suffering of Arab citizens in general, stressing that there is no contradiction between this court and the judicial system in each state.

Dr Al Hamadi, presided over the first high-level meeting of legal experts of Arab countries tasked with preparing the draft statute of the Arab Court for Human Rights.
