Doha: The Ministry of Interior (MoI) twitter accounts in Arabic and English have received ‘verified account’ status by Twitter Inc, the Ministry said in a release yesterday.
The accounts were verified as a result of successful employment of technology by the Ministry, specially the social media in connecting with public inside and outside the country to introduce the activities of the Ministry and to raise security awareness and convey latest security related incidents at the earliest eliminating the chances of rumour-mongering.
The Ministry opened its window in the social media websites in September 2011 in Arabic and English along with other languages such as Hindi, Urdu, Nepal and Malayalam. The total number of followers on both accounts of the Ministry is over 87,700.
