DOHA: Injaz Qatar and Bedaya Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development have launched their Job Shadow Day initiative, which is part of the Youth Job Readiness Programme, a learning and career development platform sponsored by Boeing.

The Youth Job Readiness Programme, which included a total of 400 students in 2013, is targeted at university students in Qatar, to equip them with practical experience prior to graduation, while providing them with sufficient networking and potential employment opportunities. University students from Qatar University, Community College Qatar, College of North Atlantic – Qatar, Texas A&M University, Georgetown University and Stenden University Qatar took part in this year’s programme.

The Youth Job Readiness Programme features three phases during which participants undergo a series of career building training workshops, following which they shadow professionals in a Qatar-based company within their field of interest and subsequently take on a month-long summer internship over the course of which they are expected to work on a variety of projects.

Injaz Qatar Executive Director Aysha Al Mudahka, said: “Job Shadow Day is designed to enable students to experience a real life work environment while they are growing and developing on the academic front. Stemming from our Work Readiness Pillar, this initiative will inspire and motivate Qatar’s youth by giving them the opportunity to be part of major companies in the country, and see what it takes to be successful in their chosen careers. It is our mission to channel mentorship by Qatar’s business leaders to help create an entrepreneurial culture and help foster business innovation among Qatar’s youth.”
