A momentous triumph has unfurled at Compass International School Doha as young prodigy Alex Taishi Whitten, a remarkable Year 7 student from Themaid, claims the illustrious first prize in the junior category (11-14 years old of the esteemed Council of British International Schools (COBIS) Music Festival 2023.
His magnum opus, the enthralling composition titled ‘Lady Bug Garden,’ emerged as the undisputed star amid the melodic tapestry of 71 exceptional submissions from schools spanning the globe.
The COBIS Music Festival, an awe-inspiring showcase uniting over 400 schools worldwide, played host to the brilliance of 36 participating institutions, with 27 seamlessly joining the harmonious celebration in a virtual symphony. The festival’s discerning adjudicator, faced with an avalanche of extraordinary entries, grappled with the formidable task of selecting the most sublime compositions.
Alex’s musical odyssey has been one of unwavering commitment and relentless pursuit of perfection. Guided by the resplendent symphony of Sibelius, the music software cherished as a treasure at Compass International School Doha, Alex delved deep into the intricacies of composition. The resolute determination that fuelled his tireless efforts at home and during his music extracurricular activities has culminated in this resounding victory, a testament to his extraordinary talent.
The Compass community here in Doha celebrated Alex’s unparalleled achievement filling hearts with joyous melodies. His boundless dedication, artistic prowess, and fervent passion for music have rightfully earned him this prestigious accolade.
