Barwa Bank tournament raises funds for charity

DOHA: Barwa Bank, Qatar’s fastest growing Shariah-compliant banking service provider, handed over QR96,000 in donations to charities as part of its Fourth Ramadan Football Tournament.
Acting Group CEO, Khalid Yousef Abdulla Al Subeai, presented the cheques and said: “The bank is keen to support athletic and social activities. Our annual Ramadan Indoor Football Tournament raises the motto of playing for a good cause to ensure the bank’s effective participation in fighting poverty.”
The handover ceremony took place on July 15 and donations were equally distributed to Qatar Charity and Sheikh Eid Charity Foundation.
The bank had announced earlier that it would donate three times the amount of registration fees of teams participating in the tournament, to charities in Qatar to provide help for the needy. Funds were handed over to representatives of Qatar Charity, Nasser Al Yafei, Executive Director, Collection and Branches, and Khalid Ahmad Fakhro, Public Relation Manager, Yousef Al Jassem, Head, Local Marketing Department, Eid Charity foundation.
Mohammed Matar, Head, Retail Credit and Representative of the Sports Committee at the bank, said, “The tournament was a great success, marked by intense competition.”
The final game was held on July 16 at Al Wakra Sports Club.
