Ankara: Turkiye welcomed the Declaration of Principles signed between the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Congo River Alliance/March 23 Movement (M23) under the facilitation of the State of Qatar.
In a statement issued Sunday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs appreciated the constructive contributions to the stabilization and development of the Great Lakes region by all actors involved in this process, particularly the State of Qatar, the East African Community and the Southern African Development Community.
The Ministry said that this Declaration constitutes an important step toward a peaceful and lasting solution to the conflict in the east of the DRC, adding that Turkiye will continue to support all efforts aimed at promoting peace, security and stability in Africa.
The signing of this declaration is the result of the State of Qatar's diplomatic efforts over recent months, during which it worked to create a conducive environment for constructive dialogue between the two parties, paving the way for a peaceful resolution to the longstanding conflict in the region.
