Doha, Qatar: Qatargas, the world's largest producer of liquefied natural gas (LNG), said on Wednesday it had signed a medium-term sales and purchase agreement with Turkey's Botas to deliver 1.5 million tonnes of LNG each year for three years.
Qatargas said it would supply the LNG from Qatargas 2 to either the Egegaz LNG Terminal, the Marmara LNG Terminal or the Etki LNG terminal in Turkey.
"We are very pleased to announce this new agreement with Botas which will further strengthen our relationship with our friends in Turkey," said Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, President and Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Petroleum, and Chairman of the Qatargas Board of Directors.
Qatargas has previously supplied Turkish state pipeline operator Botas with spot cargoes.
Al Kaabi said that with the continued growth of the LNG market and its development, Qatar accomplished new achievements, adding "This deal reflects the deep confidence of our customers around the world in our capabilities as a reliable supplier of LNG to satisfy their requirements."
For his part, Chief Executive Officer in Qartargas Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al-Thani said that Qatargas is delighted to announce this deal with BOTAS which is a valued customer with deep expertise in the LNG industry.
Commencing on October 1, 2017, this agreement provides for the supply of LNG from Qatar Liquefied Gas Company Limited (2) ("Qatargas 2"), the world's first fully integrated value chain LNG venture. The LNG will be delivered onboard Q-Flex vessels to either the Egegaz LNG Terminal, the Marmara LNG Terminal, or to the Etki LNG terminal in Turkey.
Qatargas succeeded in supplying liquefied natural gas to 28 countries around the world, after its first LNG production in 1996 committed to meeting the global demand for clean energy safely and efficiently.
