Cyprus keen to improve trade ties with Qatar

DOHA: The Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, Charalambos Panayides, said  that even though the bilateral relations between Cyprus and Qatar are of “high standard, there is room for improvement, especially in the sectors like economy, energy, trade and tourism”.

On the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the Republic, the Ambassador lauded the “outstanding” relations between Cyprus and Qatar, which he said had been strengthened in the last few years with numerous visits of leaders and agreements. 

During the last few years Cyprus and Qatar have reached over 15 agreements, the first one was signed in 2008 and the next one in 2009, when the President of Cyprus Dimitris Christofias visited Doha.
