Wins for Al Sadd, Al Gharafa

Doha:  A brace from Brazilian striker Lisandro Lopez helped Al Gharafa register an emphatic 3-1 win over Al Rayyan in the Qatar Stars League (QSL) match at Al Rayyan Stadium here yesterday.

Lopez’s twin strikes, one in each half, gave coach Zico his first win as coach of Al Gharafa.

The Brazilian striker gave his team the lead in the 19th minute and struck deep into injury time to make it 3-1. In between, Nicolas Fedor struck the second goal for Al Gharafa in the 64th minute to give the lead for the second time in the match. For Al Rayyan, Brazilian Rodrigo Tabata had resorted parity by successfully converted from the sport kick in the 56th minute.

But Al Rayyan joy was short lived as Al Gharafa took the lead eight minutes later.

Al Gharafa now have seven points from five matches, while Al Rayyan have just three points.

In the other matches yesterday, defending champions Al Sadd routed Qatar Sports Club 4-0.
