Doha: Total recently concluded its second session of electric submersible pumps (ESPs) training to provide its employees with tools to become more efficient.
The training was delivered by an expert from Schlumberger for over two days.
ESPs use centrifugal force to lift hydrocarbons to the surface, enabling high flows and enhanced production.
Having been introduced to Total’s production techniques, employees and contractors of Total E&P Qatar were trained in how to use ESP systems to monitor performance and optimise efficiency.
Employees in the workshops and team-building sessions gave positive feedback on the overall quality and importance of the course.
“The training was beneficial to me as an engineer and technicians, because it gave you the confidence to operate ESP systems more efficiently,” said Maha Al Khulaifi, from the Geosciences Department.
“I am more aware of how it works and I have in mind the best practices which will help me handle pumps more effectively,” Al Khulaifi added.
“We are happy to have collaborated with our partner Schlumberger for this training, said Pierre Leschi, Vice-President, Al Khalij Asset.
“Trainings are a key focus of our employees’ career development path, and we regularly train our employees in the technical fields to help increase their motivation, energy and efficiency.
“Following the success of this training, we will be conducting other sessions for our employees and contractors.”
Total has had a continuous presence in Qatar for close to 80 years, and is the only international oil company active in all branches of Qatar’s oil and gas sector, including exploration and production, refining and petrochemicals, and the marketing of lubricants.
