DOHA: The Traffic Department yesterday launched the first phase of a safety awareness campaign targeting school and university students.
The campaign follows introduction of traffic safety as subject in Independent schools.
The department plans to set up traffic safety committees and traffic friends’ groups in schools as part of the campaign, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday.
The awareness programme will cover students of all Independent schools as well as Qatar University.
The first phase will continue until January 1 next year and focus on topics, including traffic law, violations, data related to traffic accidents and road manners.
The second phase, from February 10 to May 10 next year, will include visits to Rumailah Hospital, driving schools and other facilities concerned.The Peninsula
