AL KHOR: A second-half goal yesterday helped Al Kharaitiyat hold hosts Al Khor to a 1-1 draw in a round-four clash of the Qatar Stars League (QSL).
Abdul Rahman Ruban opened the scoring for Al Khor in the 35th minute but Al Kharaitiyat managed the equaliser through tireless Loteteka Bokilla in the 61st minute. Al Khor, who enjoyed more of the possession in the first 30 minutes of the game, brought the game to life with deft moves near Al Kharaitiyat box soon after the half-hour mark.
In the 32nd minute, Al Khor’s Mouhssine Iajour charged with the ball into Al Kharaitiyat box but defender Domingos Nascimento slipped in a neat tackle to snatch the ball close to his own goal-line in the 30th minute.
With both teams struggling to break free, Al Kharaitiyat’s Jeremy Bokilla brought down Al Khor’s Musba Al Majeed with an extremely rough tackle in the 33rd minute, resulting a break in play and physical altercation among the players of the two sides.
In the 35th minute, Al Khor drew first blood with a bit of flair on home soil. A supercharged Bokilla broke free of his marker on the left flank before advancing towards the Al Khairaitiyat box despite being shadowed by a couple of defenders.
Close to Al Kharaitiyat box, Bokilla spotted an unmarked Ruban and slipped the ball to the 25-year-old defender.
Ruban, without wasting time, curled in a beautifully taken first-time kick that beat Al Kharaitiyat goalkeeper with ease. The ball swung in late before hitting the net to give Al Khor the lead with 10 minutes to go in the first half.
Making the most of a goalkeeper’s gaffe in the second half, Bokilla produced the equaliser for Amar Osim’s Al Kharaitiyat at the hour-mark. Goalkeeper Baba Djibril failed to pouch a long-range shot that ducked into his own box, resulting in an ill-timed fumble.
Bokilla quickly sensed his kill and tapped the ball into the net to give the visitors the equaliser.
Later, at Al Arabi Stadium, newcomers Al Shahania pulled off a thrilling one-all draw against Al Gharafa.
