Condolences sent to Saudi Monarch

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday sent a cable of condolences to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia following the death of Princess Muna bint Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The Deputy Emir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani sent a similar cable.
The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani also sent a cable of condolences to King Abdullah.


Qatar attends Jeddah meting

Doha: Qatar participated in the 30th session of the Arab Ministers of Justice Council and its 55th executive bureau meeting in Jeddah. The Minister of Justice H E Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr Al Mohannadi led Qatar’s delegation. The ministers approved a technical secretariat report on steps taken to implement decisions of the council’s 29th session, and enhance cooperation between judicial authorities in Arab countries. The session called on Arab countries to address terror acts and refrain from providing active or passive support to entities or people involved.


QTA to provide tourism tours


DOHA: Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) will launch an initiative ‘Samana’ (Our Skies) – a helicopter project to provide tours and sightseeing in Qatar. QTA has worked in collaboration with Gulf Helicopters to complete the project, backed by the Ministry of Transport and Qatar Armed Forces. QTA is working with industry and local stakeholders to innovate operational processes and tourism products based on latest research, expertise and technology to achieve a more professional tourism sector.

Supermarket shut

DOHA: Al Wakra Municipality yesterday closed down a supermarket in Al Wakra for selling expired dates. The closure is for seven days. A restaurant in Umm Salal was also ordered shut for 15 days for selling food unfit for human consumption, the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning said on its website.
