Qatari bourse index drops 55.07 points

DOHA: Qatar Stock Exchange index declined 55.07 points (0.4 percent) when the bourse closed at 13,846.01 points Thursday.

The trading value declined to QR 798.75 million from QR 1.11 billion on Wednesday.

The trading volume dipped to 11,913,794 shares from 7,956 transactions compared to 16,470,188 shares from 9,033 transactions on Wednesday.

The market capitalisation decreased to QR 750.665 billion from QR 751.87 on Wednesday.

Indices of four sectors ended in the red zone today with transport sector index dropping the most 1.12 percent to 2,433.21 points.

Telecommunications sector gained the most today, up 0.39 percent to 1,506.87 points followed by consumer goods (0.11 percent), and banking and finance sector index gained slightly by 0.01 percent.

From the 43 listed companies, 16 advanced, 24 declined and two remained unchanged.

Qatar National Bank share was up 1.14 percent to QR 231.60, reversing its 0.48 percent decline Wednesday.

From consumer goods and services sector, Zad Holding share gained 3.14 percent to QR 92. Qatar Fuel gained 1.33 percent, up QR 3.00 to QR 228.

Three real estate companies ended in the red zone today. United Development Company (UDC) was the only gainer, up 2.94 percent to QR 28. (QNA)
