DOHA: Silatech hosted youth-focused workshops at the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) which ends on Saturday.
Silatech is a social initiative to promote youth employment and entrepreneurship, as well as the official Country Host for GEW-Qatar. Silatech Associate Director of Employability, Dr Rachel Awad, led a session on ‘How Interns Can Help You Grow Your Business’.
“From the employer’s perspective, a well-designed internship programme can bring new expertise and energy into an organisation, as well as fresh perspectives and brand advocates.
“From a student’s perspective, internship provides valuable work experience and on-the-job training. It’s a win-win situation for all involved,” she said.
Silatech also convened the third workshop for an informal entrepreneurship policy working group. Discussions focused on how to best support an enabling policy environment for aspiring and existing entrepreneurs in Qatar, and the potential for improved impact from stakeholders in the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Raghda El Meligy, Silatech, spoke on ‘Eight Qualities You Can Take Away from the Entrepreneurs Who Couldn’t Be Here’, and qualities and habits successful micro-entrepreneurs maintain throughout the region.
GEW is celebrated with entrepreneurship-focused activities in over 140 countries. This year, GEW-Qatar features over 40 workshops, discussions, lectures and sessions.
Participating organisations include Bedaya Center, Enterprise Qatar, Entrepreneurs’ Organisation, Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Qatar University, Qatar Development Bank, Qatar Science and Technology Park, Qatar Shell, 7ayak Hub, Qatar Business Incubation Center, How Women Work, Uber, The Edge, I Love Qatar and Evently.
