DOHA: After its maiden and successful direct interaction with private companies and their workers to explain the provisions of the labour law in detail, the Ministry of Labour is planning to have another spate of prolonged interactive sessions.
The ministry had set up a team that would explain the finer points of the labour law to workers of private companies.
A second team is being set up to resume the interaction and cover more and more workers and companies under the unique drive.
The first ‘guidance and educational team’ was set up two months ago to raise awareness among foreign workers about the labour law and makes them meet their responsibilities, and benefit from the services provided by the ministry.
The team visits companies to know problems they are facing in meeting the requirements of the ministry and if they have any, then the team immediately calls the department concerned to solve it quickly, Team Leader, Saleh Al Khalidi, told Al Sharq.
“If the problem could not be solved during our visit to the companies, we take necessary steps to help when the representatives of the companies visit the ministry,” he added.
“We discuss with the companies problems of their labourers and take their views to solve them,” said Al Khalidi.
