KARACHI: After the chief justice of the Sindh High Court (SHC) allowed the request, the Sindh Home Department has requested the federal Interior Ministry to take necessary action to shift 38 high-risk prisoners from the jails of Karachi to Punjab and Balochistan.
Sindh authorities had decided to shift these high-profile prisoners at a high-level meeting last January 6, presided over by the chief minister and attended by officials of the law enforcement agencies.
Some of these prisoners were found involved in many illegal activities including target killings and other heinous crimes and their phone calls were traced and recorded by the agencies.
These 38 prisoners belong to the MQM, PPP, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other sectarian organization and other sectarian organizations and majority of these prisoners are under trial while some have been convicted.
Sources in the Sindh Home Department said these prisoners could be shifted by the end of this month.
According to the list, the 38 prisoners include Saulat Mirza, Atif Nizami, Akbar Ali, Adil, Baqar alias Talha, Ismail, Yousaf, Asif Ali, Nizam Din alias Kala Nazim, Adnan, Usman, Abdul Ghaffar, Niaz, Nasir Ahmed, Raza Zaidi Riaz, Akbar, Sanna alias Sunny, Zeeshan and others.
