DOHA: The Dau contest continues today at the Qatar Falcons and Hunting Festival in Sabkhat Marmi in Mesaieed.
Many turned up to witness the event’s second round yesterday, following its rescheduling due to strong winds that swept over the venue on Monday, picking up sand and making it impossible to continue with the event.
Ten best falcons qualified for the final round which showcases falconers’ skills in training their birds for speed.
Each falcon is to cross 400 metres towards its owner signalling it to approach the finish line, in the shortest possible time.
The organising panel said a shooting competition will be held from today for members of the festival’s committees, with a special competition for youth in the age group 11-15 tomorrow and an open shooting competition on Friday. All will be held from 9.30am to noon.
