Doha: Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar’s (VCUQatar) Community and Outreach Programme has opened registration for spring community classes.
Courses include different art, design and craft by local and international instructors.
The programme continues to expand. The current set of 55 courses includes classes in photography, camera filming, drawing, painting, jewellery making, fashion styling and making, home, event and graphic design, Islamic pattern construction, fashion dress making, other making and craft classes, Adobe and AutoCAD and art classes for children in age groups under 15.
The eight-week programme runs from late January to early April with a two-week break in early March. Unless otherwise noted, non-credit community classes are open to women and men aged 15 and above, and are taught in English at the VCUQatar building on the Education City campus on Al Luqta Street.
In addition to over 40 non-credit classes, the university is offering community courses in partnership with and at IAID as an extension of its own programme and complement IAID’s programme.
VCUQatar courses at IAID include charcoal and pastel drawing, fashion illustration, advanced watercolour painting, collage with discarded materials, decoupage and two children’s classes: stroke painting and ceramic mosaics.
VCUQatar is also offering a short programme for female high school students interested in art and design. It is taught in Arabic and includes ceramic mosaics, gouache painting, party planning and puppet making and is open to girls aged 10 to 14.
Classes can be booked individually or as a complete programme at a discounted fee.
