IBPC joins hands with embassy for activities of Year of Millets

Doha: The Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) Qatar and the Indian Embassy have joined hands to kick start the activities for International Year of Millets 2023 starting with a gathering of hypermarkets and food importers in Qatar. 

IBPC Vice President K P Ashraf welcomed the delegates and briefly explained the agenda.  Angeline Premalatha, Counsellor (Political & Commerce) at the Indian Embassy, explained the significance of the International Year of Millets and her desire to host various activities to raise awareness about millets in Qatar and their importance in our daily diet.

Allevia Medical Center Nutritionist & Dietician Renitha Richard made a presentation on the various health benefits of millets, while IBPC Vice President Hisham Abdul Raheem proposed various initiatives to promote millets in Qatar.

Team IBPC also met with the Managements of Radio Malayalam, Radio Mirchi and Radio Olive-Suno to kick start the year-long public awareness campaign for millets. 

With the aim to create awareness and increase the production and consumption of millets, the United Nations, at the behest of the Government of India, has declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets.
