NHRC, QSFA sign MoU of cooperation

Doha, Qatar: The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) and the Qatar Sports For All (QSFA) Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two parties across a number of fields, contributing to the achievement of shared objectives, and promoting and strengthening a culture of human rights through various sporting events.

The MoU was signed by HE NHRC Secretary‑General Sultan bin Hassan Al Jammali, and QSFA Executive Director Abdullah Al Dossari, on the sidelines of the 4th National Human Rights Forum, which concluded its sessions today in Doha.

The MoU provides for cooperation between the two parties through joint means and mechanisms in numerous areas, including: the exchange of information, legislation, publications and best practices relevant to the nature of each party's work; as well as the exchange of plans and strategies directed at each party's performance; and the dissemination of a culture of human rights through community sports programs and activities.

It also covers the preparation and delivery of joint training courses and workshops in the fields of human rights and their interface with sports activities; the exchange of expertise and information related to monitoring and assessing the human rights situation in the State of Qatar as it pertains to the sports sector; the launch of joint initiatives and projects that reinforce the concept of sport within the framework of human rights and community participation; in addition to supporting programs targeted at priority care groups, including persons with disabilities, older adults, women and children, with the aim of enabling their right to engage in sporting activities.
