Jeddah: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) today reiterated its call to the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take all necessary decisions and measures to protect the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), its facilities, and its staff, and to compel Israel to cease its violations and respect its obligations under international law.

In a statement, the OIC condemned the Israeli occupation forces' storming and demolition of facilities belonging to the UNRWA headquarters in occupied Jerusalem, considering it a dangerous escalation and a flagrant violation of the UN Charter, UN resolutions, the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, and the 1946 Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations.

The OIC affirmed that the occupation's targeting of UNRWA's headquarters in occupied Jerusalem is part of its illegal attempts to liquidate the refugee issue by undermining the existence of UNRWA and its vital role, which stands as a testament to the international community's commitment to the Palestinian refugee question and the protection of their rights under relevant UN resolutions.
