Doha: Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Publishing (BQFP) and the Katara Art Centre are organising a historical Novel Writing Workshop, led by bestselling Qatari author Abdulaziz Al Mahmoud. It will take place on March 4 and 6 at the Katara Art Centre.
Al Mahmoud, known for his bestselling novel Al Qursan, will work with participants on overcoming obstacles that prevent authors from writing novels.
“There are many people who wish to write a historical novel but they are reluctant to do so due to several reasons. This workshop will help them visualise what they want to write and how to achieve it,” said Al Mahmoud.
Al Mahmoud will explain how to write a bestselling novel, including identifying the era, researching the historical context, structure, avoiding writer’s block, along with many other useful methods he has developed.
“I’ve been through the experience of writing a historical novel, it is not just writing, it is identifying the lives of a group of people in a specific geographical place and in a specific time. You must love history to write it in the form that others will enjoy,” explained Al Mahmoud.
Those interested in taking the course can email bqfp.events@qf.org.qa to obtain the application form. The last day to apply is February 25. Selected applicants will be notified by email.
