DOHA: The Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, is working to open new branches of Real Estate Registration Department and Document Attestation Department in some of the sparsely populated areas of Doha.
The aim is to reduce long waiting time for visitors and resolve parking and traffic problems.
The Ministry of Justice has launched other initiatives to overcome the problems, including arranging additional parking space and introducing e-services, the local Arabic daily Al Sharq reported yesterday.
The ministry has reportedly deployed additional security outside its building to ensure smooth traffic on the access road. It is also in talks with the Traffic Department to facilitate one-way traffic on the road at least during rush hours to avoid congestions near the area.
The initiatives are in response to a report on January 29 highlighting problems such as parking crisis and long waiting time due to ever-increasing number of visitors to the ministry.
The ministry has signed a contract with a private company to provide additional parking for visitors at a nominal fee. The report said Kahramaa, which is adjacent to the ministry, has agreed to share its spare parking space with visitors to the ministry.
Both departments, which see receive visitors, have started evening services to ease the crowd during morning hours.
For the elderly, women and people with special needs, the ministry has introduced a special service at door step. Under the service, people can call the concerned departments, and an employee at the ministry will visit the home of the beneficiary to do the job at a fee.
The ministry has also established a committee, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Justice, to enhance its online and electronic services by introducing latest technologies such as mobile apps to provide services through smartphones. The Peninsula
