DOHA: Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) has opened the health centre in Kafr Nima town in the West Bank after renovation, expansion and providing equipment, in cooperation with Palestinian Red Crescent Society at a cost of QR1m. It will serve 50,000 people of Kafr Nima and 10 neighbouring towns in Ramallah and Al Bireh Governorate, QRC said. The centre also aims to meet the needs of more patients and improve services for the Palestinians amid hard economic and living conditions. An engineering and soil survey for the 158sqm building found that a 93sqm part needed to be demolished and rebuilt, another 65sqm was maintained, and 54sqm were added, with works covering 212sqm. QRC also built a 222sqm second floor and provided furniture, equipment and medical instruments. It is the only healthcare facility in western Ramallah.
