Doha: Less than a week after their high-flying victory over second-placed Al Sadd, Qatar SC were stunned by Al Kharaitiyat at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium here yesterday.
Qatar SC, who are third in the QSL standings, went down 3-2 to eighth-placed Kharaitiyat.
Although striker Hamdi Harbaoui gave Qatar the lead in the 17th minute, Kharaitiyat levelled though Hasan Abdel-fattah Mahmoud just at the stroke of halftime.
Kharaitiyat played a great second half with Yahia Kebe scoring in the 56th minute and Mahmoud doubling the advantage in the 72nd minute. Qatar SC tried to get back into the game but could only find the back of the net in the 90th minute through Y. Mohamed. And Kharaitiyat held on for a famous victory.
In the day’s other match, Al Wakrah beat Al Sailiya 3-2.
