DOHA: Qatar will host a conference on protection of workers’ rights at the Ritz-Carlton on International Workers Day on May 1. Senior governmental officials, representatives of international organisations and private companies are expected to attend the conference.
The Amnesty International will be represented by James Lynch and Audrey Gaughran, Al Sharq reports. Lynch is researcher on migrant workers in the Gulf with Amnesty since 2012. He has been lead researcher and author of the Amnesty’s November 2013 report on Qatar’s construction sector. Gaughran is the Director of Global Issues at International Secretariat of Amnesty International since April 2010.
