DOHA: Katara yesterday launched a cultural forum website aimed at tracking the cultural movement in Qatar and the Arab world as well as highlighting important events and activities in Katara.
“The launch of this website keeps pace with the development of online media and the increasing interest among large segments of people in Qatar, the Gulf and the Arab world,” said Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, adding Katara has always been keen to strengthen its online presence to reach the growing number of people concerned with culture, literature
and the arts.
Dr Al Sulaiti said the new website will support intellectuals, writers, artists and practitioners in the cultural field, as a source of information as well as providing a database and information of interest.
He pointed out that the website will be regularly updated on the events, news, activities and cultural programmes.
Katara Forum is one of the pioneering programmes in line with Katara’s five-year strategy aimed at encouraging artists and intellectuals to participate in the cultural movement.
“Katara is always keen to provide platforms to support sustainable development of culture and innovation in Qatar, the GCC and other Arab countries, taking into consideration that producing creative work is an ongoing process,” Dr Al Sulaiti added.
The website www.kataraforum.com includes Katara news, cultural forum news, cultural news from the GCC, Arab and other countries in addition to a section on the opinion of writers in the field of culture and art.
