PESHAWAR: Police resorted to the use of teargas and baton-charge on Tuesday to disperse government employees gathered in protest outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in Peshawar.

The government employees, ranging from Grade-1 to Grade-16, carried out a protest rally from Jinnah Park to Press Club and blocked Khyber and Jail Road to register their protest.

The demonstrators said that KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had himself announced up-gradation for government employees but had never fulfilled his promise.

The protesters blocked Khyber and Jail Road for over three hours, causing disturbance for traffic. Police eventually resorted to the use of teargas and baton-charge to disperse the protesters.
