Qatar Cup: Clash of the titans begins on Sunday

Doha: Four top Qatari club sides will battle for the prestigious Qatar Cup title as the eagerly-awaited Qatar Cup is set to begin on Sunday at Al Sadd Stadium. 
The Qatar Stars League (QSL) the highest professional football league in the country formally announced the details of the tournament  held at Al Sadd football club yesterday. 
Hassan Al Kuwari, Director of Events at the QSL was joined by Ahmed Al Adsani, Director of Competitions of the QSL and Mubarak Bilal Al Ali from the Ministry of the Interior.
Ahmed Al Adsani confirmed that the tournament will kick-off on Sunday (April 24) with the first semi-final between Al Rayyan and Lekhwiya, which will kick off at 7:15pm at Al Sadd Stadium. 
The second semi-final will take place on April 25 between El Jaish and Al Sadd, kicking off at 7:15pm at the same venue. Al Adsani also stressed that the matches being played on both days, was to increase the excitement of the Qatar Cup competition and to encourage football fans to watch both semifinal matches.
Mubarak Bilal Al Ali of the Ministry of Interior advised fans to arrive early to enjoy the atmosphere. 
From the many fan activities provided, Al Ali also stressed that security personnel will be on hand to help with any issues spectators had.
Hassan Al Kuwari confirmed that the tickets for the tournament are now available online via qsl.com.qa, along with tickets being available daily at the Katara fanzone along with the semifinal tickets being sold at Qatar Sports Club ticket office at gate 5. Al Kuwari also revealed details of a dedicated fan zone in Katara where fans will have the opportunity to take part in a host of football related activities. The fan zone will have a distinct emphasis on family fun, and provide the general public to get up close to the famous Qatar Cup trophy.
Meanwhile, the first promotional tour for the Qatar Cup 2016 was launched yesterday with a visit to Aspire Academy and Khalifa International Stadium.
The promotional tour delegation, which consists of the Events Officer Abdel Aziz Al Malki and the Community Relations Officer Nasser Al Kuwari, visited Aspire Academy which represents the future of football in Qatar. 
Also the delegation visited the working site of the Khalifa International Stadium after the Aspire Academy within the frame of huge interaction from all stakeholders.
The trophy tour will visit Al Biddaa Tower – the Qatari football family headquarters – today followed by a visit to Al Jazeera Cafe in Katara. Also the trophy will visit some other location during the coming few days such as Souq Waqif and Aspire Park.
