The annual Walkathon of 2nd Chance Rescue will be held this Friday (May 22) from 3-6pm at its farm. The event, which aims to raise awareness on Qatar’s rising animal welfare state, gives families and people the chance to visit the shelter, walk the rescue dogs and meet the organisations growing volunteer base.
2nd Chance Rescue is asking for donations of Pedigree dog food and Whiskas cat food for entry, and will also have a donation box available for items such as leads, blankets, toys, treats and more. With over 160 dogs and cats in the shelter, volunteers for the organisation have urged that “food is a priority for the shelter, with the summer months coming and more dogs than ever dumped at the gates.”
The event is available for all types of dog walkers - beginners to experts. For people looking to adopt a dog, or cat, the shelter manager Rhonda Rooney will also be on hand to explain the rehoming process. The Peninsula
