Spanish football legend and Al Sadd skipper Xavi Hernandez expressed his delight in winning the prestigious Emir Cup after defeating Al Rayyan 2-1, in the final played at the state-of-the-art Khalifa International Stadium on Friday.
Xavi told the press that the club made a great achievement in winning the season's most important competition. He also said that the victory was a result of hard work from all members of the team.
The Barcelona legend also said that he was delighted to play in front of a packed stadium and fans who expected Al Sadd to win the double, after bagging the Qatar Cup last month.
The star playmaker also said that all of Al Sadd's players were the stars of the match and put in a great shift over the course of 90 minutes against a strong side.
Meanwhile, scorer of the winning goal, Jugurtha Hamroun expressed his delight at winning his team's 16th Emir Cup, his second title with Al Sadd in his first year with the club. He said that it was a tremendous feeling to play at the stadium with such an atmosphere created by the fans.
