Doha: The COVID-19 pandemic has not only impacted businesses and education but also sports. Stallions Cricket Academy as the leading cricket academy in Qatar, has set up another example to the communities by offering free online classes for the Qatar’s young budding cricket players on the mental aspects of the game.
Ashan Perera an ICC Level 3 Coach, and Stallions high performance coach who conducts the sessions, commented on the situation and stated that, “At this time our young children need our assistance and guidance much more than before. This is the time that we all should get together and keep our mindsets positive. Therefore, we decided to provide valuable insights of the game to the players, and also personality and leadership development and life coaching. It gives me a great pleasure to engage with these young enthusiastic kids to improve the mental aspect of the game and help them enjoy their learning.”
Stallions as the largest cricket academy in Qatar, founded by Sidath Tennakoon who is also a LEVEL 3 high performance coach, ensures that the players are not left behind during this Global Pandemic Crisis. He commented, “We are all going through an unprecedented situation globally and therefore, we thought that we should think out-of-the-box and come up with a solution to keep up our kids’ momentum. We decided to use technology through Zoom and we plan to introduce many other similar programs in the near future.”
Stallions Cricket Academy, started in Qatar in year 2013, and has provided cricket coaching for more than 1,000 students and produced a number of talented and skilled players to Qatar cricket with a number of players being selected to play at national level.
Sidath further said: “We are really grateful to the leadership of Qatar, who has taken every necessary step to control the pandemic situation, and we hope that the cricket will start soon and bring us all back to the regular outdoor learning atmosphere.”
