Bid to salvage chopper fails

LA TRINIDAD: Salvage operations of the damaged police Robinson 44 four-seater helicopter that crash landed on Wednesday atop a mountain in remote Tinglayan town in Kalinga have  failed. Investigators from the air units of the Special Action Force and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines arrived in Kalinga yesterday morning to probe and bring the “air asset” to safety and to repair the same failed to airlift the chopper. Kalinga police said the Huey helicopter of the Philippine Air Force was unable to lift the damaged chopper.

Bus passengers robbed in Pasay 

MANILA: Passengers of a bus lost their cash and valuables yesterday morning to four holdup men in Pasay City. Reports said the suspects, who posed as passengers, declared the stick up inside the Helena Liner bus along Roxas Boulevard. Armed with guns and fan knives, the suspects divested the victims of their valuables.

3 robbers killed in police raid

MANILA: Police shot and killed three suspected robbers in Quezon City early yesterday, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said. It identified two of the suspects through documents recovered from them as Rey Ebondas Pacatang and Adan Surio, who has a tattoo of Jesus Christ’s face marked with “AMA” on his right thigh. The third suspect was only described as between 30 and 35 years old, fair complexion, of medium built, and carrying a black shoulder bag.

Marijuana haul worth $2m

LA Trinidad: Authorities torched more than $2m worth of marijuana seized during a three-day operation in four plantation sites in Tinglayan, Kalinga. Authorities said that the plantation raids were conducted in Sitio Bitulayungan.
