Geneva: Qatar has denounced the Israeli occupation authorities’ persistent non-cooperation with the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory to enable the commission to perform its mandate.

This came in Qatar’s statement delivered by Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Office in Geneva H E Dr. Hind Abdulrahman Al Muftah during the interactive dialogue with the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem and Israel, within the framework of the 53rd Session of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Representative of Qatar in Geneva reiterated Qatar’s strong condemnation of the systematic violations perpetrated by the Israeli forces and Israeli settlers against Palestinian activists, human rights defenders and journalists through immoral and illegal acts such as prolonged administrative detention and intimidation during interrogation and torture and criminalising the Palestinian civil society’s organizations and their members by branding them as “terrorists”, ramping pressures on donors to cut off funding and support sources, as well as detaining members of civil society’s organizations arbitrarily and forcibly transferring them from the occupied Palestinian territory and cancelling residence permits in East Jerusalem which pose flagrant violations against international human rights law and international humanitarian law and are considered crimes under international law.

She said that such acts are committed within a systematic plan that seeks to muffle the Palestinian voices that document the Israeli occupation crimes, adding that these crimes are inseparable from the occupation’s aggressive, settlement and racial policies.
