Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) renewed its call to lift the Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip to end the famine there and allow the safe and widespread entry of humanitarian aid to alleviate the growing humanitarian suffering in the Strip.

In a post on X platform on Monday, UNRWA said that it had received messages of despair expressing the reality of famine in the Gaza Strip, including from some of its employees in the area, noting that the siege imposed by the occupation on the Strip since last March has caused food prices to rise "forty-fold."

UNRWA indicated that it has sufficient food stored in its warehouses in the Egyptian city of Arish to cover the needs of all Gaza residents for more than three months, urging international institutions to pressure Israel to allow the safe and widespread entry of aid.

Two million people in the Gaza Strip are experiencing a humanitarian crisis at all levels. The Israeli occupation authorities have closed the crossings since March 2, 2025, preventing the entry of food and medical aid, causing a famine to spread throughout the Strip.
