Doha, Qatar: Members of the expatriate community in Qatar gathered recently at the MIE-SPPU Institute of Higher Education (Pune University), located in Barwa Commercial Avenue, to offer their condolences and pay tribute to late Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The solemn gathering reflected the deep respect, gratitude, and affection that the expatriate community holds for the leadership and people of the State of Qatar. The condolence meeting was jointly organised by MIE-SPPU Institute of Higher Education, Pune University, Uttar Pravasi Association (UPAQ), Bazm-e-Alig, AMU Alumni’s Association, Jamia Alumni’s Association, Indian Friend Circle, Anjuman Muhiban-e-Urdu Hind, Bazm-e-Urdu, and Karwan-e-Urdu.
The event was attended by distinguished dignitaries, representatives of the media, community leaders, members of various organisations, and a large number of expatriate community members from across Qatar. Participants offered prayers for the departed soul and expressed their solidarity with the leadership and people of Qatar during this period of mourning.
Speakers at the gathering paid glowing tributes to the remarkable vision and enduring legacy of His Highness the Father Amir. They highlighted his transformative leadership, outstanding contributions to the development and prosperity of Qatar, and his unwavering commitment to peace, progress, education, and humanitarian values. They also acknowledged the opportunities and support extended by the State of Qatar to expatriate communities, which have enabled people from diverse nationalities to live and work in an environment of peace, stability, and mutual respect.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Nadeem Mahir, followed by the recitation of the holy Qur’an by Maulana Shamsur Rahman. Community leaders who addressed the gathering included Shahdab Khan, Mahmoud Ahmed, Ashraf Siddiqui, Parvez Khan, Atiq Anzar, Javed Ahmed, Khubaib Qasmi, Aziz Nabeel, Dr. Saad, Rashid Siddiqui, and Muzzafar Nayab.
The condolence meeting concluded with a special prayer seeking Allah’s mercy upon the departed soul, asking that he be granted the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus, and praying for continued peace, unity, prosperity, and well-being for the leadership and people of the State of Qatar. The programme ended with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Osama Shamsi.
The organisers reaffirmed the expatriate community’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the longstanding bonds of friendship, mutual respect, and cooperation between the State of Qatar and the expatriate communities residing in the country.
