Washington: Jordan and the United States signed Tuesday a reciprocal trade agreement aimed at strengthening bilateral economic ties and providing exporters from both countries with greater access to each other's markets.
Under the deal, the US will reduce reciprocal tariffs imposed on Jordanian goods to 10%, while granting the apparel and garment sector in all its forms more preferential access to the US market, boosting Jordanian exports to the US, which reached $850 million during the first third of 2026.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Jordan by Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.
Under the agreement, Jordan will continue providing tariff exemptions for US product exports to Jordan, in accordance with the US-Jordan Free Trade Agreement signed in 2001.
A statement by Jordan's Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply noted that several recent commercial transactions reflect the strength of trade relations between the two countries.
This includes Royal Jordanian Airlines' purchase of six Boeing 787-9 aircraft valued at $1.4 billion, as well as the signing of long-term aircraft leasing agreements worth $500 million.
