An exhibition of postage stamps to mark the 83rd anniversary of the unification of Saudi Arabia began at Katara Cultural Village this week.
The process of unifying the kingdom’s lands and people began in Riyadh. King Abdul Aziz then turned his unification efforts to the southern area of Najd in 1904, then Al Hasa (1913), Asseer (1920) and Hayil (1921). He then turned to the western regions, where he managed to control the Hejaz area, Al Tayef, Makkah, Madinah and Jeddah. He thus unified different parts of the country and stopped turmoil and wars between tribes.
