Qatar set to play three friendlies next month

DOHA:  Qatar will face Lebanon on October 9, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) confirmed yesterday.
The international friendly is part of the preparations of the national side that will feature at 2014 Gulf Cup in Riyadh in November.
Qatar will also play against Uzbekistan on October 4. On October 14, Qatar to take on Australia in another friendly.
Qatar’s last international friendly before the 2014 Gulf Cup will be against North Korea on November 6.
Earlier this month, Qatar played a goalless draw against Morocco in Casablanca before going down to Peru 2-0 at home.
Qatar is coached by Djamel Belmadi who is also preparing his side for the 2015 Asian Cup to be held in Australia in January next year.
Meanwhile, Al Shahaniya’s Spanish coach Miguel Ángel Lotina has decided to quit the Qatar Stars League (QSL) side, it emerged yesterday.
The club has agreed to Lotina’s decision, details have revealed. Lotina, who was roped in June this year, will not lead the side against Al Sadd today at Al Gharafa Stadium It is believed Lotina resigned for ‘personal reasons’. Lotina was only the second Spaniard to have plied his trade in the QSL.THE PENINSULA
