Three artists win Best Buddies Qatar contest

Best Buddies Qatar held an awarding ceremony of the art competition among 60 members belonging from different Primary and Preparatory Schools in Doha.
Zainab Preparatory School; Khadija Bin Khuwailid Primary School; Nusseiba Bint Kaab Primary School; Al-Khansa Primary School; Mimouna Primary School; Al-Wafaa Primary School; Al-Qadisiya Primary School; Al-Khwarizmi Primary School; Barzan Preparatory Scool; Umm Al-Amd Primary School; Al-Rifaa Primary School participated in the competition.
The main subjects of the competition were: to portray the positive impact of Best Buddies Qatar towards its members; to enlighten the opportunity to express themselves through art; to highlight the role of disability in society and to demonstrate the importance of art and creativity in the field of disability.
Famous artist with a disability of being deaf-mute, Ayda Al Mualla, attended the ceremony with her artwork. In a video speech she described the development of her art talent which was inspired by all beautiful surrounding while she was a child; she spoke about her devotion to support children with disabilities and inspire them to develop their skills and talents in art. She wished the State of Qatar to become famous in world of art.
The committee of juries, included Hanadi Al Darwish, Mona BouJassom, Dana Safer, recognised 3 best paintings which belong to: Fahima Hafez Mozammed (1st place); Hadeel Osama Abdullatif (2nd place) and Shahad Tariq Abbas (3rd place). All participants were granted certificate and the winners of the competition received financial award from Best Buddies Qatar.
The paintings of all participants of the Art Competition were exposed to the attendees of the ceremony.
Laalei Abu Alfain, The Executive Director of Best Buddies Qatar, said:“Best Buddies Qatar is very proud to hold the Art Competition among its numerous gifted members with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities to inspire them to develop their talents and to encourage them to contribute to community though art, as integrated and event particles of Qatar society. We thank all who join Best Buddies Qatar in its goal of social integration or people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities representing national, Arabic and Islamic identity today.”
“Such events depicts the society in which all people with and without disabilities have rights to equally participate and become assets into social economic, demographic development of the country. We highly appreciate all parties who contribute to success of this occasion and facilitate empowerment, accessibility, communication and integration of Best Buddies Qatar members,” she added. Mohammed Al Sayeed, Manager of Rehabilitation and Inclusion Department at Best Buddies Qatar, said:“We are pleased to hold art competition among Best Buddies Qatar members in correspondence to the organization’s aim to integrate people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities into community. Such event takes place for the first time in Qatar, and it constitutes the fulfilment of Best Buddies Qatar objectives to stop social isolation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.” “This art competition aims to create a cultural environment that attracts both people with and without disabilities as event particle of the society, which encourages them to be leaders in their lives and spreads the awareness of the importance of social integration of people with disabilities,” he added.
