Doha: MES and Bhavan’s School won the first CBSE hockey clusters tournament, in the boys and girls section, organised by Bhavan’s school in association with Qatar Hockey Federation (QHF).
A total of nine teams took part in three categories and were keenly ocntested.
Finals of the all the three categories went into the tiebreaker.
In the Under-18 category MES boys prevailed over Bhavan’s.
The MES boys continued their impressive show by winning the Under-14 title.
In the final they beat the Bhavan’s.
The host school which lost both the finals in the under-18 and Under-14 category in the boys section managed to get over their disappointment by winning the girls Under-14 title.
The Bhavan’s scripted a tiebreaker victory over Birla Public school.
The overall championship was shared by Bhavan’s and MES.
Saleem Ponnambath, Honorary President, Bhavan’s, presented the trophies to the winning teams.
Mohammed Nazer, QHF Secretary General was presented a memento by Ponnambath and Shanmugham, national coach was presented by VL Balasubramanyam, School Principal of Bhavan’s. The winning teams will travel to India, later this month for the all-India CBSE clusters tournament.
