DOHA: Residents of Al Ib, a small township on Al Shamal Road, say that they have to drive more than 15km to reach the nearest shopping center to buy their daily groceries. The area located between Jinihat and Al Khisa accommodates more than 600 families, local Arabic daily Al Arab reported yesterday.
“Al Ib is now attracting more Qatari families but it needs some basic services like commercial outlets,” said Ahmad Al Nemah, a resident.
There is not a single laundry or car wash in the area. A few years ago, the population was low so at that time it was acceptable. But the area is developing and it needs all types of services, he added. Due to lack of a school, residents have the extra duty of taking their children to school and back home, besides their official duties, said Abdullah Al Haidus.
