CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi yesterday said a presidential pardon for two of the three Aljazeera journalists serving seven-year jail sentences was being considered. “Let us say that the matter is being discussed to solve the issue,” he told the France24 network.
He issued a decree last week allowing him to repatriate foreign prisoners, raising hopes that Australian Peter Greste and Canadian-Egyptian Mohamed Fahmy could be released. Egyptian Baher Mohamed is serving a 10-year sentence alongside his colleagues.
