DOHA: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem conducted an inspection tour of the testing committees for the Full Qur’an Memorisation category as part of the 30th edition of the Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Qur’an Competition.

The visit took place at the examination venue in the courtyards of Imam Muhammad ibn Abdulwahhab Mosque, where the second stage of the category was underway.

During the tour, the Minister reviewed the organisational procedures, the level of preparedness, and the measures taken to ensure a distinguished performance by participants.

He was briefed on the evaluation mechanisms and the flow of the examinations, aimed at providing an exemplary environment for all memorisers, citizens and residents, males and females. The Minister was accompanied by MalAllah bin Abdulrahman Al Jaber, Chair of the Organising Committee, his deputy, and several committee members.

Following the inspection, the Minister visited the Quranic Exhibition accompanying the competition, held in the mosque courtyard and open until November 23. The exhibition offers an integrated interactive and educational experience that showcases more than three decades of Qatar’s efforts in serving the Holy Quran.

Its sections include a timeline of the Ministry’s achievements, interactive reflection stations, recitation-correction studios, children’s learning corners, Arabic calligraphy, virtual-reality experiences, publication stands, and a final mural where visitors record their impressions.

The exhibition also featured dedicated morning sessions for women on November 16, 18, and 20 to ensure broad community access.

The competition and exhibition together embody Qatar’s continued commitment to serving the Book of Allah and honouring its people. They reflect the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Quranic culture and deepen engagement with the Holy Quran across all segments of society.

The second stage of the Full Quran Memorisation category for males and females was held on November 19 and 20 and included three groups: citizens, general memorisers among residents, and elite memorisers among residents. A total of 93 participants competed in this stage, with five male and five female contestants from each group qualifying for the final open round scheduled for November 22 and 23.

Prizes for the category include QR100,000 for first-place winners across all three groups, for both males and females. Second-place winners receive QR85,000, third-place QR70,000, fourth-place QR60,000, and fifth-place QR50,000.

The organising committee will also grant encouragement prizes to participants who passed the second stage but did not advance to the finals, as well as special awards for contestants distinguished by the beauty of their recitation.
