Doha: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index closed this week down 3.19 percent, losing 349.99 points to settle at 10,607 points, compared to last week, due to pressure across all sectors.

QSE figures showed the telecommunications sector recorded the largest weekly losses, with a negative performance of 10.09 percent, followed by the industrial sector at 1.44 percent.

Financial market analyst Youssef Bouhlaiqa, told the Qatar News Agency (QNA) that despite this week’s decline, the QSE index still maintains year-to-date gains of 0.35 percent, which strengthens confidence in the performance of listed companies and opens the door for further liquidity injections into the market.

Financial analyst Bouhlaiqa emphasized the need for a hedging approach to managing investment portfolios in light of current developments and accompanying market volatility. This stems from the importance of maintaining a carefully considered balance between expected returns and potential risks.

Bouhlaiqa stressed the necessity of diversifying investments across low-and medium-risk assets to ensure greater stability, while avoiding exposure to high-risk assets, even if they appear theoretically promising in terms of high returns.
