Tunisia: Tunisian Prime Minister Hamadi Al Jebali has received $20m as a donation from Qatar for the benefit of the fund of the Tunisian revolution martyrs, wounded persons  and victims of tyranny in Tunisia.

The donation was handed over by Qatar’s Ambassador to Tunisia Saad bin Nasser Al Hemaidi during a meeting with Al Jebali yesterday.

The Ambassador said after the meeting that the donation, which comes under the directives of the Heir Apparent

H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, represents a contribution by Qatar to Tunisia to compensate the martyrs of the Tunisian revolution. He noted that the donation is a first amount that will be followed by a second next year.

Tunisian Minister for Human Rights and Transitional Justice, who attended the meeting, said that fund is a joint account raising donations from within Tunisia and from abroad.

He said the account was opened a few months ago, noting that the Qatari donation was the first to be deposited in the fund’s account. QNA
